Whilst our sons served on the front line in Afghanistan, with the 3rd Battalion Mercian Regiment on operation Herrick 14, Kim one of our mums wrote a small book of poems, which shared the experience of having a son serving on the front line. We thought with it, we could reach out to mothers and families across the country, letting them know, we were thinking of them, they were not alone. We were joined by Mandy, an RAF veteran, who was also looking to provide a support network for family's.
Once the book was printed, we began to spread the word, and within three months we had sold 200 copies. The response we had encouraged us to open up a support/chat room for those mums to get together and support each other, in a more personal way.
M.O.M.S developed from the need expressed by the members of our group, to find information, we decided to create our website, to put an umbrella over the resources available, for parents and relatives whilst they have someone serving in the military. We invite you to read through our pages, if you would like to know something, or have some information you think will be useful, please contact us via our contacts page, and let us know,we will do our best to help, and when appropriate add it to our page.
